Friday
- Jason Isbell (Drive-By Truckers), Will Hoge and the ever-lovely Centro-Matic are playing the Social.
- Kottonmouth Kings and some other awful blunted rap-rockers are playing what amounts to an afternoon show at Firestone. This, of course, is the weekly winner of “If you go to this, you’re retarded.”
- But, there’s also Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Theatre Downtown. So, you know, you’ve got choices.
Saturday
- Well, there’s this:
- Marc With a “C” is celebrating the completion of his new CD, Normal Bias, with a show at Stardust.
- The Thread folks are having an under-pressure art show called Make Haste at the Cherry Street Studios.
- The Orange County Convention Center is hosting Taste of the Nation, in which a bunch of rich people get together to raise money for hungry children by eating really fancy food. But on VERY small plates. Because they care.
Sunday
- Erykah Badu performs at House of Blues.
- Or, if you’d like to actually experience real old-school rather than an old-school act, you could catch KRS-One at Club Element.
- The Orlando Gay Chorus’ latest show, “Of Ghosts and Glory,” is all about catching “the musical spirit of pre-Nazi German cabarets.” At least that what we said in Selections. It’s happening at the Jewish Community Center.
- And, speaking of … uh, well, you know, Clay Aiken’s doing whatever he does at Hard Rock Live before an audience of extremely in-denial females and not-really-as-perceptive-as-they-think men.
