Deke Dickerson preaches the rockabilly gospel in Orlando Credit: Courtesy photo

Between the soft-core indie folkies and the glossy bullshit of the Nashville industrial complex, it can feel like roots music is being drained of its soul in the race to the lowest common denominator. But the real stuff will never die so long as traditionalists like Deke Dickerson are around.

A modern legend in rockabilly, county and Western swing, Dickerson is a revivalist of 24K cred. For this classic roundup, he’ll be joined by rockabilly dignitaries like Shaun Young, Willie Barry and local legends Skinny McGee and the Handshakes. This one’s for the true-school heads, no goofy-ass psychobilly camp here.

Bonus for those with responsibilities: It’ll be both early and free.

5 p.m. Sunday, March 2, Lil Indie’s, free.
