The Beacham was buzzing with punks of all multitudes, across generations, ethnicities, geographies and professions — new fans and old fans — there to see Scranton, Pennsylvania’s Menzingers on Friday night.
The magic of the Menzingers is not in just their ability to mark simple moments as monumental through their music; it’s the community they’ve built across the world through that fundamental understanding. On stage, the band spoke to their early days playing at the small but loved Orlando stages of Will’s Pub and The Social, still shocked to see a full house for them 18 years on.
And they brought a lineup dreams are made of. Canada’s Dirty Nil reminded you why you don’t miss an opener, leaving fans wanting more; Memphis’ Lucero played a full hour of their 26-year-long discography.
The Menzingers did not disappoint; they delivered a killer set of favorites and deep cuts, closing the night with On The Impossible Past’s “Casey.” The pit was a party, old friends from high school, your favorite bartenders, the friends who got the babysitter just for the night. So sweet you could cry, while being thrown on the ground. It was all so much easier than dealing with everything.
