The Teen Suicide show was just as dreamy as you’d expect, with two openers setting the mood with their own moody flair. Curtains rocked the audience into a sweaty pit just before the Synthetics had the room swaying to dreamy, shoegazing sounds.
With a plethora of pedals and sundry gear scattered around the floor and cords long enough to trip the bartender, Teen Suicide hit the stage. Keyboard player Kitty Ray fiddled with her synthesizer, the band sipped their beer, then the lights dimmed to pink and chords chimed out.
The now-Orlando-based band played fan-favorite songs like “Suicide,” “Dead Bird Skeleton,” “I Feel Like Dying” and more.
As the night drew to a close, the crowd begged for an encore of some sorts, shouting requests for “Haunt Me.” Kitty looked sideways at frontperson Sam Ray and said, “OK, fine, this song is called ‘Haunt Me (x3).'”
“No, no, no, this isn’t ‘Haunt Me.’ It’s a different song, a better song,” Sam said.
The band finished the night with “Give Me Back to the Sky,” putting a final trance over the crowd, who moved in unison — bobbing heads and swaying arms.
