Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with sexytimes, or Galentine’s Day with your ladies, or just hate-binging alone on the couch, no Feb. 14 is complete without a lot of heart-shaped treats. Because food that’s contorted into a different shape is festive, or something. Eat your heart out!
10. Heart-shaped strawberry kebabs. Meh. A little too healthy, in my book.9. Chocolate-covered strawberry hearts are more like it. Easy. Sugary. Yes.8. Bake a strawberry into a cupcake, and when you slice it in half, there’s a heart. (Hahaha, who eats half a cupcake?)7. Heart-shaped caprese salad: because not everyone likes sweets, and tomato, basil and mozzarella are heaven on a plate.6. Pink, heart-shaped Rice Krispie treats. This one gets high marks for ease (the only special equipment required: heart-shaped cookie cutter) as well as scarfability.5. Maybe you’re more of a morning person? Heart-shaped pancakes require a bit of skill, but make the lovey-dovey point nicely.4. Heart-shaped jello shots — perfect for Galentine’s Day, or for the couple who likes to drink together. Or for the bitter single who just wants to pass out. Versatile.3. Valentine roll: Bento Cafe serves heart-shaped tuna/salmon/krab sushi for $8.85, or you can just press a dent into whatever roll you got rollin’, Valentine.2. Heart-shaped raspberry macarons … with teeth. This is very good. As everyone knows, real love has a bite.1. And, best for last, local pizzeria Del-Dio will actually make you a heart-shaped pizza. (Or you can order one from Papa John’s, if you don’t mind supporting some political tomfoolery.) Pizza is always appropriate, no matter what your Valentine’s plans.
