The vibe at the Get Up Kids and Hot Rod Circuit show felt and sounded a whole lot like 1999 at the House of Blues on Friday night.
The Get Up Kids have reunited and hit the road to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal rock release Something to Write Home About and their (almost) 30th year as a band. The band played the album in its entirety and then some. Drummer Ryan Pope was great on the kit, while Matt Pryor’s voice sounded clear and strong — darn near as good as the 25-year-old recording.
Openers Hot Rod Circuit made for an excellent double bill with catchy, well-crafted, pop punk anthems leaning pretty heavily on their brilliant 2002 release, Sorry About Tomorrow.
