Tired of having to leave Animal Kingdom when the lions and tigers get put to bed every night?

Disney recently announced the date for Rivers of Light, the waterside show that will mark the park's transition from a daytime only attraction, meaning you won't have to leave the park when the sun sets.

Fittingly for a theme park with strong ties to conservation, the show will debut on Earth Day, April 22, according to the Disney Parks Blog

The park's first nighttime show will be staged along Discovery River, the waterway that runs through the center of Animal Kingdom.

The show is expected to include live performances, floating lanterns and water screens with "theatrical animal imagery." The show can't include fireworks because of the wellbeing of the animals in the park, but will include a custom soundtrack.

According to Michael Jung, the creative portfolio director for Walt Disney Imagineering, the show follows the story of two spirit hosts who come to to the river bearing "gifts of light," who summon animal spirits with a dramatic dance of water and light:
"With these storytellers as guides, the wonders of “Rivers of Light” unfold, building to a magnificent finale with bursts of light as animal images soar to the heavens– signifying the ancient belief that when animals passed from one world to another they danced in the sky and became beautiful rivers of light."
Other nighttime additions to the park include periodic "awakenings" on the Tree of Life, where the animal spirits in the tree's trunk come alive with the light of magical fireflies.

The Kilimanjaro Safari will also receive an after dark update. New "sunset" looking lighting as been installed to allow guests the chance to spot some of the exhibits newest additions, African wild dogs and hyenas.
