What if the villain wasn’t actually the villain?
This summer, local theater company Orange Rose Performances invites audiences to experience a fresh, hilarious, and surprisingly heartfelt take on a beloved classic with Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier. This musical parody flips the script on the familiar tale of Aladdin, retelling the story from the perspective of the kingdom’s often-misunderstood Royal Vizier.
Set in a magical kingdom filled with eccentric rulers, ambitious princes, magical lamps and one very funny Djinn, Twisted follows a Royal Vizier who finds himself on an unexpected quest to save his city. Along the way, he must contend with a bumbling sultan, an invading prince, and a notorious thief whose name audiences may recognize: Aladdin.
Packed with comedy, catchy musical numbers, and clever references to the animated films that inspired generations of fans, Twisted both celebrates and lovingly spoofs one of the most iconic fairy tales of all time. Whether you’re a longtime musical theater fan or simply looking for a unique night out, this production delivers laughs, adventure, and a whole new perspective on a familiar story.

Behind the production is Orange Rose Performances, a local theater organization founded by Kendall Rose with a mission to make the performing arts more accessible, affordable, and inclusive. The company was created to provide opportunities for adults who may not have had the chance to pursue their creative passions, regardless of their previous experience level.
Orange Rose Performances is dedicated to engaging, inspiring, and transforming artists, audiences, and the community through high-quality theatrical productions. The organization welcomes individuals with talent and passion, offering a supportive environment where performers can develop skills in singing, acting, dancing, and stage performance.
For many cast members, Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier represents more than just a production—it’s an opportunity to grow as artists, gain confidence, and become part of Orlando’s thriving creative community.
Whether you’re drawn by the clever premise, the musical comedy, or the chance to support local performers, Twisted promises an entertaining evening filled with magic, laughter, and a few surprises along the way.
Sometimes the best stories are the ones you’ve only heard from one side. This time, it’s the Royal Vizier’s turn to tell his.
Twisted plays at the Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts for four shows: 2 p.m. & 8 p.m. Saturday, July 18, and 2 p.m. & 8 p.m. Sunday, July 19.
