Universal Orlando will officially say goodbye to its rock & rollin’ roller coaster this summer.

The park announced on its website that the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster will permanently close Aug. 18 to make room for a new unnamed attraction.

The coaster with a musical twist, featuring a 90-degree climb and speeds that reach up to 65 mph, first opened to the public in August 2009.

“Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will permanently close on August 18, 2025 to make way for a new experience,” Universal said in a recent update to their website. “More details will be available at a later date.”

Rumors surrounding the attraction’s closure circled late last year after the theme park filed documents related to a new project located at Rip Ride Rockit with the Southwest Florida Water Management District, according to WESH 2.

On Dec. 27, Universal confirmed on X that the ride would close in early September 2025 to “make way for a new experience.”

With the closure moved up a month earlier, parkgoers now have 75 days to ride the coaster until its final day of operation.

Universal has yet to announce what the ride’s anticipated replacement will be.
