The city of Sanford, along with seven other Florida communities, were just ranked among the 100 most dangerous cities in the nation.

According to a new report from Neighborhood Scout that ranked the country's top 100 most dangerous cities, which looked at the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents as well as property damage, Sanford came in at a ranking of 97 out of 100.

"With a crime rate of 57 per one thousand residents, Sanford has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes – from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 17. Within Florida, more than 93 percent of the communities have a lower crime rate than Sanford," reads the report.

The website stated that Sanford is only safer than 4 percent of other cities in the entire country. It's worth noting that while Orlando does have a higher crime rate overall, the City Beautiful didn't make the top 100 when adjusted for population.

As Neighborhood Scout discloses in their report, "data used for this research are 1) the number of violent crimes reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city."

Other Florida cities on the list include Lauderhill, Miami Beach, Homestead Daytona Beach, Fort Myers, Lake Worth, and Riviera Beach, which had the worst placement at 30.
