
While Publix did not specify how much the wages will go up, new hires and employees who were hired within the last six months can expect raises, an employee told Orlando Weekly.
Though it depends on the area, a starting wage for a new employee is typically between $8 and $9 an hour.
The announcement comes before a fourth-quarter earnings announcement scheduled for Thursday, where the Lakeland-based grocer is expected to report a stock increase of nearly 13 percent, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
