First, there was this incident that happened on Feb. 18 at 2:25 a.m. in downtown Orlando: According to the Orlando Police Department, a fight involving 20-40 people broke out in the vicinity of BOSS nightclub. As the crowd was being "escorted" out of the club, according to an arrest affadavit, a verbal argument broke out between two men. One of them, Joel Garcia Jr. allegedly stabbed the other man in the ribs then ran off after witnesses separated the two men. Garcia tried to hide (unsuccessfully) from police, who say he managed to cut four other people in the crowd during the fight. None of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries, and Garcia was charged with second-degree attempted murder. Garcia, according to police reports, is 19 years old. (Speaking of stabbings in downtown Orlando, the Sentinel is reporting today that Craig Sandhaus, the guy who stabbed bouncer Milton Torres to death outside the Lodge in 2011 because he says he was trying to defend his brother, is asking that his confession be thrown out of court because his attorney at the time had a conflict of interest; Sandhaus previously tried – unsuccessfully – to use the Stand Your Ground law to defend himself in the incident.)
Approximately 24 hours after the stabbing outside of BOSS, there was a triple shooting at Middlebrook Farms apartment complex just off Conroy Road. Just before 2 a.m. this morning, three people were shot at the complex. Khoy Williams, 24, and Jonathan Cook, 17, were killed. Another victim, a 22-year-old man, survived. His identity is not being revealed.
