In the confusion surrounding the sad conclusion of Peacock Room, information became muddled, and it was difficult to know how much longer the bar would remain open to its loyal crowd of drinkers, musicians and live music and art scene fans. But all that confusion was cleared up yesterday morning when Peacock Room posted on Facebook, "As of 2 a.m. October 28, 2014 – The Peacock Room is officially closed. We thank you for your support and patronage over the last 13 years."

In turn, we thank Peacock for the vibrant art shows, the quirky events, the music-nerd nights, the hip-hop DJ nights, the diverse concerts, the shows that ran too late but everyone stayed, the ample parking in the mischief-inspiring dirt lot, the stiff drinks that kept coming, the wild bar crowd that never looked the same on any given night but always kept us entertained, the private bathrooms that usually locked, the bartenders who put up with everything, the owners who allowed so much culture to be birthed, nurtured and then gathered true momentum in what will always be remembered as a unique, irreplaceable space.

R.I.P., Peacock Room. You will be much missed.

FYI: The bar, formerly a local legend this time of year for its impressive Halloween decorations, couldn't have gone at a more poignant time, and for those planning to spend Halloween at the free AC/DC cover show featuring the Golden Pelicans and Gino and the Goons originally booked at Peacock Room, make note that show was shifted to St. Matthew's Tavern.
