Central Florida is bracing for a prolonged cold spell this week, with unusually low temperatures and freeze warnings in effect across the region.
Temperatures are expected to plunge into the 30s this week, while some areas have already experienced more than a 25-degree drop in temps in the last 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service. A freeze warning is in effect in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Volusia and Lake counties starting midnight Tuesday and lasting through 9 a.m. Wednesday.
As the frigid temperatures continue, cold shelters in and around Orlando are opening to the public. Here is a list of cold shelters in the region and when they are available throughout the week.
