Charlie Kirk, who 'owns the libs' with diaper protests, will speak at University of Central Florida

Charlie Kirk, a millennial conservative who once created a database of liberal college professors he didn't like, will be a guest speaker at the University of Central Florida this spring.

Kirk will bring his "Hard Truths" speaking tour to UCF's Psychology Building on April 10 at 6:30 p.m. 

The 24-year-old is the founder of Turning Point USA, a nonprofit conservative activist organization backed by big Republican names, notably the Trump family. The aim of the group, which has over 1,000 chapters spread across college and high-school campuses, is to get conservative candidates elected at the student-government level and fight "liberal intolerance." According to Kirk, the real victims of discrimination are clearly the Republican youth.

To demonstrate this, members of his group decided to wear diapers last year at a Kent State University protest to, you know, "own the libs" on the hot topic of college "safe spaces." However, as expected, the diaper protest just became a meme of Republicans wearing diapers.

However, besides adult diaper awareness, Turning Point USA was recently accused of illegal campaign activity and racial bias. Because Turning Point is a 501(c)3, the group is not required to disclose its donors, and they're also not allowed to endorse candidates, which gets tricky when that's basically all you do.

Former employees say that they were directed to work with prominent conservatives, including the wife of the Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, in aid of Republican Presidential candidates in 2016. Perhaps most troubling for an organization that holds up conservatives as the real victims of discrimination in America, Turning Point USA is also alleged to have fostered an atmosphere that is hostile to minorities. Screenshots provided to me by a source show that Crystal Clanton, who served until last summer as the group’s national field director, sent a text message to another Turning Point employee saying, “i hate black people. Like fuck them all . . . I hate blacks. End of story.”

Obviously, Kirk's appearances are controversial. Just a few days ago, as anti-fascist protesters gathered outside his latest speaking event at Colorado State University, chanting neo-Nazis wielding large flashlights, bats and shields stormed the crowd, resulting in a dispersal order from the CSU police. No arrests were made.
