In January, the ethics panel said it had found probable cause to believe that Gillum, who previously served as Tallahassee mayor, accepted the payment of travel expenses in Costa Rica and a ticket to the highly acclaimed Broadway show “Hamilton,” both of which are violations of civil law.
Gillum was beat out by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis in the November 2018 election. During the campaign, the ethics probe into Gillum’s conduct was a regular talking point for his opponents, though Gillum denied the allegations at the time.
