A second medical marijuana dispensary has been approved in Florida

On Wednesday, Florida’s Department of Health granted authorization to a second dispensary for processing and selling low-THC medical marijuana. 

Surterra Therapeutics, which is a dispensing partner for the Homestead-based Alpha Foliagewill begin in-home state delivery within a week and it’s actual store will open in Tampa within the month, reports the Associated Press. 

Surterra Therapeutics will be Florida’s second medical marijuana dispensary. Trulieve began home delivery and officially opened their first facility on Tuesday, July 27, in Tallahassee, Florida. 

Low-THC medical marijuana was approved for patients with cancer or a medical condition that causes chronic seizures or muscle spasms in 2014 by the Florida Legislature under the “Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act.”
