The Orlando City Council approved the pick Monday for the new park, set to be located at the corner of Orange Avenue and Robinson Street. The outdoor venue, funded by the City of Orlando’s Community Redevelopment Agency and in line with the DTO Action Plan to be “An Awesome Outdoor City,” will be an “innovative public space designed to inspire connection and community,” according to a release.
Art2 will feature food vendors, a craft beverage station, modular seating and programming designed to highlight Orlando’s art scene. À La Cart — a company seemingly strongly committed to HTML-unfriendly business names — will manage the onsite cafe, program the food vendors and events, handle daily events, staffing and maintenance, according to the release. À La Cart’s open pavilion-style food venue and bar concept currently has two locations — one at 609 Irvington Ave. in the Milk District and one at 2207 E. Michigan St. in SoDo.
The Art2 park will also feature a mural titled “Urban Mirage 1” by Turkish South Florida-based artist Sitki Dogan. It will comprise Cubist shapes, a tropical color palette, elements of Florida’s natural environment, swans, paddle boats and a perspective-based scene of the Orlando skyline, the release says.
The outdoor venue was first announced in 2023 and was anticipated to open the following winter. Now, the space is expected to open this fall.
Additional details on the park and programming will be announced in the coming weeks, the city says.
