1990s Miami band Cavity are one of those underground legends whose street cred has become almost mystical, with a cult that’s only deepened since they originally disbanded in the early 2000s. Not only was their exhilarating blend of sludge and hardcore a critical smash, but their ranks have spun off an elite procession of bands including Floor, Torche, Black Cobra and Holly Hunt.

Since reforming in 2015, Cavity have risen again to both enjoy the spoils of legacy and create new music. Befitting such Florida history, the opening lineup of Thrull, Bunaand and Skeletizer is a prime slice of Orlando’s heavy-music vanguard that would be a boss-ass bill all on its own.

7 p.m. Friday, March 20, Will’s Pub, $17-$20.
