With religious iconography that can only be described as blasphemously fun, Melanie Martinez comes to the Kia Center behind her new album Hades: The Sacrifice. Taking on yet another new persona and aesthetic, Martinez sheds the old her with an album that updates the pastel pinks of previous work with a darkly theatrical touch.
To set the stage, touring openers Haute & Freddy start the night with a mix of ’80s synth-pop, clowns and camp. Martinez’s performance includes no songs from previous albums, choosing instead to fully immerse audiences in the surreal and dystopian world of her new work. Coupled with bold sets, costumes and choreography, she invites audiences to take a trip to the dark side.
