Yorkshire indie-folk artist Billie Marten arrives in Orlando supporting her fifth album, Dog Eared. The album’s title references Marten’s bibliomania as well as her desire to leave her (actual) mark on her books. Dog Eared makes notes in the margins of Marten’s life, detailing her experiences while creating them at the same time.
“Goodnight Moon,” the seventh track on the album, pays homage to the magical realism of classic children’s literature. Marten also credits her parents’ record collection as an inspiration for her music, specifically Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush.
Joining the tour is witchy rocker Squirrel Flower. The two recently released a country-folk-inspired collaborative single with Babehoven, “Wheels,” drawing from the Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris album Trio.
