Rootsy rockers (with a satisfying twist of alt-rock stubbornness) BoDeans ramble into the Dr. Phillips Center this week as part of a tour celebrating the 40th anniversary — holy shit, we are indeed olde — of debut album Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams … and Good Things.
This 100-plus-show extended fete is worthy of an album like Love & Hope, a platter that was defiantly timeless upon its 1986 release, sporting rich hues of rockabilly, ragged-glory country-rock and proudly vulnerable balladeering.
You’ve heard their true-believers-only rock soundtracked on everything from The Bear to Party of Five, you’ve read the lore of them opening for David Bowie and Bob Dylan and even U2; it’s high time to see BoDeans on a stage.
7 p.m. & 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, Judson’s Live at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $52-$70.
