The Kia Center transformed into a very unorthodox cathedral last night as a congregation of fans packed the arena to witness Swedish rock band Ghost kick off the U.S. leg of “Skeletour” here in Orlando with a phones-free show.
Led by charismatic vocalist Tobias Forge, this masked nine-piece graced (and rocked) the stage with their signature brand of occult theatrics. While there was no shortage of hits, a notable highlight of the setlist was a thoughtful recognition of current events in America. Forge provided the once bleak but now reassuring reminder that “… nothing lasts forever” before transitioning into “The Future Is a Foreign Land.”
Other standout performances included a range of songs from across their catalog, including “Satan Prayer,” “Year Zero” and “Cirice,” alongside more recent hits such as “Dance Macabre,” “Square Hammer” and “Mary on a Cross.” — Ricardo Martinez
