The last time American underground icon Ted Leo played Orlando, it was mere days after the apocalypse of the 2016 presidential election. We didn’t yet know the full shape and scale of the new reality that was to come, but we knew it wasn’t gonna be pretty. Somehow, though, Leo managed to rein us all back from the ledge and recharge our drained souls with the perennial gusto of his inimitable punk-fired indie rock. The man’s always kept it real when it comes to life’s shit, so there wasn’t any whitewashing. It’s just that his chest-bursting vigor and incandescence blow away all else when he’s on stage, pumping you with never-say-die heart to rise again and fight another day even in the face of the void like he himself has done. Well, things have only been in a nose-diving freefall ever since, so the only prescription we need right now is a big shot of Ted Leo. Go get right.
