The duo birthed the utterly seminal Brazilian death metal band Sepultura in the 1980s, going from blackened beginnings to overground supremacy with Roots.
The siblings have struck out on their own as Cavalera of late, revisiting early, epochal Sepultura albums on stages all over the world — Morbid Visions, Bestial Devastation and now 1987’s Schizophrenia — reveling in the youthful exuberance and, unfortunately for us all, Nostradamus-like lyrical predictions of a world slowly crumbling.
They have each other and they have loud riffs, and those are two very important things to have in this increasingly fucked world.
