Premieres Wednesday:

Hotel Costiera — Jesse Williams plays a former Marine who takes a job as a “fixer” at an Italian hotel. Can’t get the PPV porn in your room to work? Send in the Marines! (Prime Video)

Marvel Zombies — Continuing where an episode of Marvel’s What If … ? left off, this four-part limited series follows a group of valiant holdouts as they combat a world population that’s been turned into insensate monsters with no regard for human life. Or as Zack Snyder would call them, “the heroes.” (Disney+)

Slow Horses — Season 5 of the wildly popular spy series is based on Mick Herron’s 2018 novel London Rules, which ups the excitement ante of his “Slough House” series with a storyline that balances the chaos of terrorism with an indictment of current British politics. Of course, you could accomplish both by simply streaming a 45-minute still shot of Nigel Farage. (Apple TV+)

Premieres Thursday:

Cocaine Quarterback: Signal-Caller for the Cartel — A three-part docuseries recounts the bizarre story of Owen Hanson, who parlayed his status as a USC footballer into a drug-smuggling gig with a big Mexican operation. And here you thought he was just an emotionally conflicted kid with his own Broadway musical. (Prime Video)

House of Guinness — Before he started writing the next 007 flick, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight penned this drama series about the Irish dynasty responsible for one of the world’s favorite adult beverages. If it’s a hit, get set for Tyler Perry’s Colt 45. (Netflix)

Wayward — Actor/screenwriter/recording artist Mae Martin brings us a thriller miniseries in which she plays a cop investigating some suspicious doings at an academy for troubled girls. Toni Collette plays the headmaster, who would like to clarify that she had nothing to do with that whole Dark Phoenix business. (Netflix)

Premieres Friday:

All of You — From the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival comes the story of two platonic best pals (co-writer/star Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots) who find themselves warming to the possibility that they’re actually soulmates. For more on the viability of this idea, see MY FUCKIN’ DIVORCE. (Apple TV+)

The Savant — Jessica Chastain stars in the true-life story of a covert operative who reaches into the darkest corners of the internet to help the government bust hate groups. Yeah, here’s another one that’s ripped from yesterday’s headlines. Nowadays, her job would be compiling lists of people for Home Depot to fire. (Apple TV+)

Premieres Monday:

Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg? — Learn the shocking story of the Philadelphia teacher whose 2011 passing was initially pronounced a suicide before being reclassified as an unsolved murder. That seems to account for every possibility but one: really bad experimental theater. (Hulu)

Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks — This glorified ad for Universal attractions, including the new Epic Universe, had been scheduled to drop in late July but got pushed back at the last minute. That’s what we get for not springing for the Express Pass! (Peacock)

Premieres Tuesday:

Chad Powers — Star Glen Powell co-created this sitcom about a bad-boy football quarterback whose awful reputation forces him to adopt a fake name and identity in order to preserve his future. What, he didn’t have a decent in with the Medellin cartel? (Hulu)

Earthquake: Joke Telling Business — The New York Times called Earthquake’s first Netflix special the funniest stand-up joint of 2022, and now the U.S.-airman-turned-comic returns to favor us with his impressions of celebrity culture and affairs of the heart. Expect some pithy observations about famous couples, like Travis and Taylor, and J.D. Vance and his couch. (Netflix)

Nightmares of Nature: Cabin in the Woods — Blumhouse ventures into Mutual of Omaha territory with a documentary series that depicts the terrors of nature from the perspective of the prey. Jeezus, like we haven’t heard enough from Erika Kirk already. (Netflix)
