You can't bite City Hall: Well, today you can (FREE BBQ!)

Who's your Buddy? Buddy Dyer is, of course. He's the kinda guy who isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and dive into a tray of barbecue, either. PROOF: Today, in support of Sonny's BBQ's Dine Out initiative to fight childhood hunger, Mayor Dyer will join the service line to hand out free barbecue lunches in front of City Hall; those who get one of the 2,000 will "have the chance to donate $2" to the cause, according to the flack we contacted this morning.

(We support this cause: Food insecurity is a scourge, and any effort to end it is a good thing. But we wouldn't be the Weekly if we didn't at least gently point out that perhaps they could take the 2,000 lunches a few miles west and give them away to someone hungrier than your average downtown office worker? Or, maybe, charge for them? The optics are questionable on this, at the very least.)

OK, nitpicking over: Sonny's, Buddy, and Share Our Strength are the good guys. Go on down to City Hall and get yourself some free BBQ today. And if you do, don't forget to drop a few bucks in the donation can. DBAA.
