Sunday is National Jerky Day, which does not imply that you get to be an ass-hat to your fellow (wo)man. It means that you should celebrate our pioneer foodways of meat preservation by means of salting and drying.
Get your beef and turkey jerky from your local grocery store, but there are other spots in town to score more exotic meats like elk, bison, alligator, snake (!), alpaca and kangaroo. Here are three:
Skeletons: Animals Unveiled
In the gift shop, find a wide selection of exotic jerkies including python (actually a worthwhile use for the lean meat of the invasive species), kangaroo and alpaca.

Despite the moniker, this spot sells waaaaaaay more than just beef, but that's a good starting spot, as there are more than 200 different flavors to try (and they're generous with samples). Find South African biltong, salmon jerky and venison.

Trader Joe's
Salmon jerky and buffalo jerky are the most popular exotic dried meats here, though the South African biltong, turkey and bacon jerky are pretty addictive, too.
