To commemorate St. Johns Riverkeeper’s 25th anniversary, the organization is set to host a brewery passport challenge to raise funds to support its mission of defending the St. Johns River.
St. Johns Riverkeeper is an independent, privately funded organization that preserves and advocates for the river. The nonprofit is currently focused on issues of water policy, bacteria in tributaries and education and outreach focused on the river itself.
The two-month-long 25 Taps for the St. Johns campaign kicks off June 1, and invites Florida’s thirstiest to visit the 25 participating breweries for an environmentally significant cause.
The breweries are located across the state, but Orlando-born breweries include Brewlando Brewing and Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company. Sanford’s Deviant Wolfe Brewing and Mount Dora’s Eden Abbey Brewing are also included in the challenge.
Participants can grab a brew — or several — and check in via QR code at each location as a part of their digital passport challenge. As entrants accumulate brewery check-ins, they also collect points that go toward prizes like T-shirts, koozies and a stainless steel pint glass. Their names will also be entered into a drawing to win an eco-tour or fishing charter on the St. Johns River with friends and a local guide.
A celebration will be held in Jacksonville at Intuition Ale Works after the campaign ends July 31.
