The locally beloved Hideaway Bar is moving to a new location comically close to its original.

The current location, which has been occupied since owner Chip Critcher’s mother bought the property in 1980, has closed and is set to move just across the street. The bar has yet to officially announce the opening, but previously stated the new location will open as soon as possible Monday, Nov. 4.

“It will be a new experience … it will be different … but it will be exactly the same!” Critcher wrote on the Hideaway Bar’s Instagram page. “I hope everyone will appreciate and love the ‘new’ bar as much as the ‘old’ bar.”

The move began in late September, when bar staff announced via social media the process was officially underway.

The bar’s move is another piece sliding into place for developer Chance Gordy, whose current focus is an ambitious mixed-use project known as The Yard at Brookhaven. The initial plan was for The Yard to pop up around The Hideaway Bar, until Critcher chose to sell in exchange for a new property across the street.

The Hideaway, a home for the Orlando Miami Dolfan club, is set to serve the same menu at its new location, including classic favorites such as the Hot Marino sandwich, named for Miami Dolphins icon Dan Marino. Menu additions are also rumored, once the team gets its footing in a new atmosphere.

“Thank you for all the memories 516 Virginia Dr.,” a post on the bar’s Facebook page says. “Looking forward to new ones at 523 Virginia Dr.”
