De Azucar (Spanish meaning “from sugar”) is the bakery brainchild of executive pastry chefs Angie Lopez, who opened the spot in January 2013, and now Katie Andrews, formerly of Rapshodic Bakery, has come on board as a chef instructor.
At the open house tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., they’ll be showcasing their wares, so come hungry, and will have interactive demos throughout the day. De Azucar also plans to offer baking classes taught by the executive chefs — including vegan/gluten-free baking classes taught by Andrews — and will have sweets for sale (sandwiches, too!) at their bakeshop.
