The Winter Park space that once housed Dexter’s and Park Avenue Tavern is finally getting a brand-new high-end chophouse.

Corner Chophouse, from the Charleston-based Indigo Road Hospitality Group, is set to open Sept. 5 at 558 W. New England Ave. in Hannibal Square.

The restaurant aims to blend steakhouse tradition with Florida finesse, serving Certified Angus Beef Prime cuts, regionally sourced seafood and shareable sides. The bar also promises a martini-forward cocktail program.

The group is known for Oak Steakhouse in Charleston, which has since expanded to six other locations throughout the Southeast. This marks Indigo Road’s first Central Florida venture — a notable expansion beyond its Southeast portfolio, including the successful Oak Steakhouse chain.

The hospitality group’s founder, Steve Palmer, is a four-time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Restaurateur. He lived in Winter Park early in his career and was moved by the neighborhood’s warmth and hospitality, Orlando Weekly reported earlier this summer.

It will be Winter Park’s fifth high-end chophouse, joining BoVine, Ruth’s Chris, Fleming’s and Christner’s.
