The dining options in Sanford just keep getting better. Sanford blog The Bokey reports that Nat Russell, chef de cuisine at Park Avenue mainstay Café de France, has left the French restaurant to host a monthlong pop-up that may turn into a permanent business.
The Memphis-born chef currently lives in Sanford, and tells the Bokey, “If the choice is Park Avenue or Sanford, I’ll choose Sanford every day. I like the small-town feel, and the eclectic vibe in downtown.”
His First Avenue pop-up will be called the Tennessee Truffle and will feature modern Southern cuisine. Russell hopes to open by mid-May, and, if response is strong, he may extend his commitment to the space and become a permanent Sanford fixture.
