Hide your Fitbit, hide your diet journal ... Bite Night is coming! If you've been eating along with Bite 30 – and hey, this is your last weekend to catch those deals – this is the best way to end the most delicious month of the year.
Monday is the traditional chef’s night off, but (sorry, chefs) this Monday, Orlando’s kitchen gods and goddesses will be working hard. You can expect bites from the Rusty Spoon, K Restaurant, the Ravenous Pig, Cask & Larder, Cress, Soco, Txokos Basque Kitchen, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the Smiling Bison, Peperoncino, Citrus, Kasa, Seito and more. Check out this slideshow of tastes from the participating restaurants: 19 Delicious Reasons not to Miss Bite Night
The restaurants will be using the freshest meat and produce they can, so there are no set-in-stone menus prior to the event, but here are a few of the possibilities we've heard tossed around:
- Cress: Mumbai street flavours: Manchurian-style stuffed pork with okra, pumpkin, roasted shishito peppers and citrus achar
- Peperoncino: House-made hot Calabrese sausage with garlicky broccoli rabe; millefoglie layered with pastry cream and chocolate-Grand Marnier cream
- Kasa: Ceviche of white fish and watermelon
- Tito's Handmade: Vodka-spiked house-made lemonade
A sound-and-light show from the Violuminescence string quartet (featuring members of Fretless Rock and Violectric) will accompany the small bites and refreshing libations, and a silent auction will benefit Orlando’s Edible Schoolyard program. Take a look at our video from last year's Bite Night (and keep in mind, we've got twice as much space this year!):
