Multi-talented comedian, actress, director, writer and producer Ali Wong is getting back to her roots with a stand-up tour that stops in Orlando this week, part of a run that covers much of the U.S. and Europe. You probably know Wong best from Beef, the Emmy-winning series she starred in and executive-produced for A24/Netflix, but her stand-up work is downright ferocious.
Recent (well, fairly) special Single Lady garnered her a Golden Globe and is a multifaceted and wickedly funny examination of divorce, being a single mom and venturing back out onto the ol’ dating scene — an excellent place to start bingeing her comedy output.
Wong’s evening performance is all but sold out and the matinee show is well on its way, so forewarned is forearmed.
4 p.m. & 7 p.m. Sunday, March 29, Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $58-$266.
