In an effort to extend the family-friendly fun available this spring, the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens in Sanford will be extending its operating hours an extra hour, effective April 4 through May 25, 2026.
Beginning this weekend, the zoo’s Saturday and Sunday hours will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Typically, the zoo closes at 4 p.m. Voted Orlando’s “Best Attraction That’s Not a Theme Park” by Orlando Weekly readers in 2025, the Central Florida Zoo is home to more than 350 animals, and offers interactive opportunities such as rhinoceros encounters, giraffe feedings and tours of its botanical garden.
As of February, the zoo is also offering behind-the-scenes, guided Zoo Insider tours, where visitors can learn more about how animals are cared for at the zoo and who’s taking care of them.
“As Seminole County’s largest attraction, the Zoo is a favorite destination for both locals and tourists looking for a great value outing. With warmer weather and longer days, the extended hours make it easier for guests to plan a staycation, enjoy an afternoon away or spend more time discovering all the Zoo has to offer,” the Central Florida Zoo shared in a news release.
The Central Florida Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with that additional hour coming to visitors who visit on Saturdays or Sundays, specifically. Unlike Orlando’s major theme parks, parking is free at the zoo.
Tickets themselves are nonrefundable, ranging from $22 to $29 for adults (prices are cheaper if you buy ahead online) or $17 to $20 for children under 12. Adults 55 and older can also purchase discounted tickets ranging from $18 to $25.
