Start your engines and grab your cushions! Couch racing is coming back to Sanford.

The Sofas and Suds event is gearing up for its annual race on Sunday, Nov. 24, along with local craft drinks, live entertainment, vendors, food trucks and furniture run amok in historic downtown Sanford.

The event starts at 2 p.m., when 16 teams representing local businesses take to the streets on creative, customized couches, racing for community bragging rights.

Some of the teams competing in this year’s sofa race include folks from Deviant Wolfe Brewing, SpaceX Dragonfly Lovers, Chronic Guru, Non Fiction Network and more.

Slots to compete in the five-person sofa race are all taken. However, those still wanting to get involved can sign up for a two-person recliner race, which will take place later in the afternoon at 5 p.m.

Admission to the event is free. VIP tickets are available for purchase for only $50 and have access to complimentary drink tickets, a private bar, prime spectator spots for the race and more.

To learn more information about this event or purchase tickets to cheer on the divans and settees, visit Sofa and Suds’ Facebook event page and the race’s TicketWeb page.
