Little Radical Theatrics presents Something Rotten! at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts’ Alexis & Jim Pugh Theater, continuing a recent local run of adventurous reinterpretations of Shakespeare’s plays.
Set in the 1590s, the Tony-nominated musical comedy follows brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom as they struggle to write a hit play while living in the shadow of, yes, Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer predicts that the future of theater will involve singing, dancing and acting all at once, the pair attempt to create the world’s first musical, leading to an absurdist adventure filled with show-stopping numbers and over-the-top humor.
