Pro basketball star Dwight Howard will soon have permanent residence in the Orlando Magic’s Hall of Fame as its 13th inductee.

The NBA champion and former Orlando Magic center (and recent Dancing With the Stars competitor) will join the franchise’s hall of fame during an induction ceremony held 3:45 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the Kia Center. He will also be honored that night at the Magic’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Howard played for the Orlando Magic for eight seasons, from 2004 to 2012.

“Dwight Howard left an undeniable imprint on the history of the Orlando Magic. From being the first overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, to our trip to the 2009 NBA Finals, Dwight’s work helped us achieve great success during his eight seasons in a Magic uniform, both on the court and in the community,” Magic CEO Alex Martins said in a release.

Howard is also a 2025 finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He joined the Magic as Orlando’s first overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft at 18 years old, and appeared and started in 57 playoff games. His time with the Orlando Magic helped them reach the 2009 NBA finals and the 2010 Eastern Conference finals.

After eight seasons with the Magic, Howard was traded to the Lakers in 2012.
