Witness Orlando artistry under a venerable oak Credit: Courtesy

Sit under a beautiful 350-year-old live oak tree this weekend and enjoy poetry and performances at the Mennello Museum.

Held at the “Mayor’s Tree” as part of the Art Pollination series, Live at the Oak features words from Orlando’s outgoing Poet Laureate, Shawn Welcome; Orlando’s new Poet Laureate, Camara Gaither; Q Major, and Marquis Lee, plus music from Emily Johnson and Juan William Chávez.

The afternoon ends with a conversation with Luca Molnar about her new mural in the Mennello’s garden, Worker Bees.

And there’s ice cream: the very topical (and surely delicious) Art Pollination Ice Cream by Smile Ice Cream & Black Bee Honey.

11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, Mennello Museum of American Art, 900 E. Princeton St., mennellomuseum.org, free.
