The Enzian Theater in Maitland this week announced a pretty eye-popping booking for the summer: Director and actor John Cameron Mitchell is coming to town for a two-night celebration of his cult-fave rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of this glam-rock and queer cinema classic — think a better Rocky Horror Picture Show (there, we said it!) gone all in on the Bowie-ness of it all — Mitchell is taking his cinematic show on the road throughout the U.S., kicking off with two nights in Orlando.

For two nights in June, Mitchell will hold court at the Enzian to shine a bright spotlight on this glittery masterpiece. Each evening features a 4K screening of the film, Mitchell doing an acoustic set of songs from the movie(!) and a costume contest. But each night will have its own unique programming.

On Sunday, June 14, Mitchell will join the Ensign’s Tim Anderson for an in-depth Q+A session that promises a deep dive into the movie and its legacy.

And on Monday, June 15, Mitchell will do live commentary alongside the film screening. (We have seen him do live commentary at Sun-Ray Cinema and it is unmissable.)

Tickets for these two nights of Hedwig are already on sale through the Enzian and will likely go ridiculously fast.
