Since the closure of Universal Studios’ Rip Ride Rockit, theme-park goers have speculated about what would take the long-loved rollercoaster’s place — now we have an answer.

Universal Orlando announced Tuesday a Fast & Furious-themed high-speed coaster is set to replace the Rockit sometime in 2027. An exact opening date has yet to be revealed.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is set to feature 360-degree drifting and a 170-foot vertical “spike” that takes riders nearly 17 stories into the Orlando sky, Universal says.

The announcement comes in the form of a 6-second clip that shows car headlights zoom by in an otherwise blacked-out screen. No further details about the ride’s concept or appearance have been shared.

Along with the new coaster, Universal announced Tuesday the Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction will close permanently in 2027.

A Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster will also make its debut in Universal Hollywood later this year.
