With a little enchantment and a coat of fresh paint, Orlando’s Walt Disney World plans a magical makeover for its Cinderella Castle.

The castle will be repainted to resemble its previous classic design, featuring grays, creams, blues and hints of gold. The makeover plan was unveiled at recent D23 session, “Beyond the Spires: An Insider Look at Disney Castles.”

The new look will replace the castle’s current pinkish tint, a controversial change made in 2021.

Although the design plans are still undergoing finishing touches, Disney said on its official blog there was intention behind the change.

“These colors were chosen to reflect the Florida sunshine in a way that makes the castle shimmer from every angle,” the post reads.

And the Sunshine State’s atmospheric conditions were not left out of the decision-making process either.

“The paint we use has to undergo accelerated UV and weather testing, simulating years of sun exposure. This rigorous process ensures that the castle’s colors stay vivid for years to come.”

The castle’s current design, which features the colors pink, rose gold and blue, was a result of a previous repainting job for its “EARidescent makeover,” during Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary in 2021.

Disney has not yet announced a timeline for when the castle’s makeover will start or when it will be completed, nor has the park shared how the area will be affected for parkgoers.
