Though it's just a glimpse at a model, it's still a really really cool model. Besides previously released renderings, this incredibly detailed layout gives us our first big picture look at what to expect at Disney's most anticipated new attraction.
The model, which is currently on display at D23, was originally unveiled at a Thursday night reception by Disney chairman Bob Chapek.
"To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement," said Chapek. "All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be."
From Disney's press release:
Both Star Wars-inspired lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before Wild Space, where Star Wars characters and their stories come to life. The 14-acre Star Wars Lands are expected to open in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland in 2019.
Here, guests will find themselves in the middle of the action at two signature attractions: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
