Remember how Sofia Coppola’s divisive Somewhere opened here last weekend without hardly a TV spot (or press screening)? I’m gonna try to help fix that – besides, y’know, reviewing the films, which you should still totally look for every week in print Wednesdays and online Thursdays – by posting confirmed bookings here as I get them. Cool?
OK, so here’s what’s coming this Friday, Jan. 28, that I know of thus far. If we’re reviewing it later in the week, I’ve indicated it with a *.
*Another Year – Mike Leigh’s critically acclaimed story of an elderly couple (Jim Broadbent and Ruth Sheen).
*Biutiful – Alejandro González Iñárritu directs a down-on-his-luck Javier Bardem.
*Blue Valentine – My 4th favorite film of 2010 comes to the Enzian. Starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling.
*Casino Jack – Kevin Spacey stars as disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
*The Company Men – The financial collapse from a “working-man’s” POV; starring Ben Affleck and Tommy Lee Jones.
The Mechanic – Remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson vehicle, starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster.
The Rite – Another Vatican-themed demonic “true story,” this one starring Anthony Hopkins.
