New bill aims to keep Florida on daylight savings time forever

Like many of us this time of year, state Rep. Kristin Jacobs believes that darkness shouldn’t fall upon the Sunshine State before you leave your cubicle. And so, the Broward County democrat wants Florida to finally ditch standard time and adopt daylight saving time (DST) … for good. Yes. Please. Great. Do it. 

As reported by the Miami New Times, the Sunshine Protection Act (a great name) reads, “As the ‘Sunshine State,’ Florida should be kept sunny year-round … daylight saving time shall be the year-round standard time of the entire state and all of its political subdivisions.”

It’s tough to argue with her logic, except for the fact that Florida would be out of sync with the entire east coast for 5 months out of the year. But really, who cares?
