The whimsical David Bowie and Jim Henson collaboration Labyrinth is a film that improbably continues to ensnare new generations of fans in the clutches of Bowie’s Goblin King. And though neither Henson nor Bowie are still with us (and we’re an immensely poorer world for it), magic still crackles from the screen every time it’s screened.
The 1986 madcap fantasy flick (think Muppets but with added Bowie chewing up scenery in a CC DeVille wig, too-tight riding pants and puffy shirt), starring Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as teen baby-sitter Sarah, will be screened at the Plaza Live while a live band plays along to all of the musical numbers, in sync with Bowie’s vocal performances. And in case you didn’t feel ancient yet today, this is part of a 40th anniversary screening tour.
8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, Plaza Live, 425 N. Bumby Ave., plazaliveorlando.org, $53-$70.
