Leading Orlando underground music imprint Popnihil will be in full flex with this label showcase. Topping the marquee is Putrid Fauve, the Orlando provocateur whose performance art and harsh noise blur the edge between the sensual and the grotesque. The primary cause of the night will be Popnihil’s cassette release of Putrid Fauve’s brand-new album, Tragic Silhouettes. Putrid Fauve’s music is a reliably foreboding descent whose deviant wavelength goes from harrowing ambience to sheer sonic terrorism, so expect a fresh, hot batch of similarly feel-good jamz. Catch her while you can, she’s planning a move up north in the coming months.
Also marking a record release with a 7-inch single on Popnihil will be Tampa ambient dream-pop act Haves&Thirds. Dark musician and drag artist Anesthesia — who recently released a riveting EP (Devotionals I) via Popnihil — will drag the bodies back down to the dungeon with some of the most sinister ambient noise coming out of Orlando right now. Keeping the vibe continuous will be DJ Jungle Jim.
