Florida sees 37.6 percent drop in abortions performed from this time last year

The number of abortions reported in Florida during the first seven months of 2025 was about 37.6 percent lower than during the same period in 2024, according to new data posted on the state Agency for Health Care Administration website.

As of the end of July, 25,288 abortions had been reported this year. That was down from 40,499 abortions during the comparable period in 2024.

The decrease comes after a law took effect in May 2024 that largely prevents abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

Of this year’s total, 25,124 abortions were performed during the first trimester of pregnancy, while 164 were performed during the second trimester, according to the agency data. The largest number of second-trimester abortions, 104, resulted from what is described as “fatal fetal abnormality.”
