Opera del Sol debuted a new virtual “house show” concept in January under the name City Lights, and it’s returning for an encore outing this month.

City Lights features local musical talent filmed in the intimate environs of Creative Director and Opera del Sol founder Nicole Dupre’s living room. Watching the livestream video, not only will you be treated to top-tier performances but also a uniquely local touch in the backdrop of Orlando’s skyline as seen from Dupre’s windows.

The debut installment featured Michelle Knight and Julian Bond and Thursday, Feb. 11, will see Desiree Montes (with Bond accompanying again) visiting Dupre’s home. The show kicks off at 7 p.m.

Montes is a savvy theme park veteran whose past roles include Mabel in the Blues Brothers Show, Celestina Warbeck in Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando and Coral/Peach in Finding Nemo: The Musical.

Future City Lights’ recitals — regularly held on the second Thursday of each month — will feature John Cavazos (March 11), soprano Nishaa Johnson (April 8), and Black Theatre Girl Magic founder Mandi Jo John (May 13).

City Lights showcases are free to view on Opera del Sol’s Facebook page, but viewers are encouraged gently to tip the performers.
